Biography

Tessa Jade is a vocalist, producer, and artist hailing from Ann Arbor, MI. She garnered recognition in her youth by singing in renowned vocal ensembles, earning runner-up titles at ICHSA finals, and becoming a part of the A Cappella Academy family. Since her time at Berklee, Tessa has enriched her musical journey by contributing her vocals to various ensembles, including Pitch Slapped and Ledisi’s Sweet Honey in the Rock Ensemble. Notably, in September 2023, she shared the stage with jazz flutist Elena Pinderhughes for her Berklee Signature Series show.   Looking ahead, Tessa Jade is releasing her first original single in August of 2024, marking a significant milestone in her musical evolution. Post-Berklee graduation, she is eager to collaborate and sing with exceptional musicians. Tessa now lives in Nashville but with aspirations to join her community in the vibrant musical scene of New York City by January 2025. Tessa Jade's sound is colored by her identity. The overcoming that comes with being a low-income, biracial, and queer person inspires her to be outspoken. Her life influences her to write music about struggle while allowing herself to wash hope in light. She hope is to uplift her audience just as her inspirations Lauryn Hill and Noname have done for her. She uses the wisdom and lyricism of these artists to always push her to talk about politics, social climates and points of view seldom heard in popular music.
