jonnychang is a Los Angeles-based, Berkeley-born recording artist and musical producer, with roots in spoken-word poetry. A Youth Speaks Bay Area alum, jonny began making music in 2014 drawing inspiration from, building meaningful connection with, and growing alongside fellow artists, and movement builders of the First Wave Hip Hop & Urban Arts Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has since dropped various EPs, singles covering topics concerning perception, mental health, family, heritage, privilege, violence, self doubt, resistance, erasure, healing, and more. jonny released his first EP "where the home is?" with Berkeley collaborator, producer Hunter Beatz in 2017, following up with his second tape "OFTEN" in 2019 with Bay Area producer Gelapi. His debut music video series, "The Weather Inside" (2022), was selected and presented at various film festivals including the 2022 Urbanworld Film Festival in New York City, the 2022 San Diego Filipino Film Festival (where it world-premiered), and the 2023 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. He is currently gearing up to drop his debut album "AMONG MANY STARS," out everywhere on May 9th, 2024.
