Biography

Jahan Nostra is an Emcee from Stamford, CT & Mount Vernon, NY. In his early childhood, Jahan lived in Mount Vernon, NY – hometown to Pete Rock, Heavy D and Sean Diddy Combs. Jahan’s musically talented neighbors inspired him to begin rhyming at 9 years old. After moving to the inner-city of Stamford, CT, Jahan continued to develop his lyrical talent and at age 13, he was signed to BMX Entertainment in Brooklyn.
In high school, he showcased his talent on the independent music scene, recording freestyles on mixtapes, and he even recorded some tracks with Producer Raydar Ellis (who later worked under Dr. Dre at Aftermath).
After high school, Jahan moved to North Carolina to study Journalism. During college, Jahan worked at Duke University Radio with 9th Wonder who introduced him to Rapper Big Pooh & Phonte. During these years - the early stages of Little Brother - Jahan even had to face-off in a battle with Phonte at the famed Cat’s Cradle. After returning to NY, Jahan recorded and released the Bedtime Street Album (2012) and SleepWalking (2013) - produced by Poppa Pill. In 2016, Jahan released ESP - a classic underground hip hop album featuring Smif-N-Wessun, Tone Trump and mastered by the Grammy Award-Winning Engineer, Daddy Kev.
Jahan Nostra has received numerous awards for his work, including Best Music Video at the 2019 Hip Hop Film Festival (Harlem) and Best Male Artist at the 2019 Urban Mediamakers Festival (Atlanta).
