Biography

Vāhaka is a multi-lingual, multi-genre band from New Delhi. India. Vāhaka means "bearer" or "carrier" in Sanskrit and in many regional languages in India. Originally formed as The Iyer Project in 2013, the band underwent a rebranding in 2020.
The band's music is predominantly in the progressive rock and alternative rock genre with tasteful doses of Indian Classical style of vocals and guitars along with electronic and rap elements. Vāhaka's members draw their influences from a variety of different genres ranging from metal to traditional Indian Carnatic music. Their 2020 single, Dosai was their first experiment into pop-rock, hip-hop rap and has been very well received.
As a band, they strongly believe in environmental conservation and climate change action and therefore there are a number of songs in their arsenal, some yet to be released, that talk about environmental consciousness.
