Leif Holmstrand is a musician, artist and writer from Sweden. His practice as a singer/composer, sculptor, writer and creator of visual images is multifaceted and includes several different stylistic approaches. For instance, his textile objects are supplemented with assemblage from pieces of furniture, as well as digital photocollage, sound installations and performances. The songs are lo-fi, maybe, and resembles junkyard scrap collages. Which they are. And a lot of the sounds come from kitchen equipment, plastic bottles and a misused violin. The hierarchy of materials in his works is never clear, as for him even expensive silk has the same basic decorative function as household waste, mutating fragments of melodies and found objects.
