Hailing from the overachieving town of Cowra in Country NSW, the now Melbourne-based artist combines a wicked bravado with effortless vulnerability through intricate bars over house and jazz infused beats. With an ability to play up to big crowds and sink low into more casual settings, KP Hydes uses his full range to captivate audiences as an entertainer and as an educator. His debut EP ‘The Telepathy’ (2021) explores the colours of pressure, inadequacy, grief and regret against a palette of desire to rise to the occasion and be the best version of oneself for you and the people around you. A series of singles released in 2023 show a lighter, less burdened approach to his music. Most notably ‘Golden Years’ where KP glides melodically over a Sonny Grin-produced, mandolin-driven beat. KP Hydes has collaborated further with the likes of Oly Sherman, Juanita Porteiro, Kirrah Amosa, Shaka J and Mattjax. With the SG x KP phenomenon ‘Hypnotise Me’ earning the pair immense underground support both in Australia and Internationally. Having now played shows all up and down the East Coast of Australia, there seems to be nowhere but up from here.
