FREDERIK MAGLE Composer, organist, and pianist. Frederik Magle is a prominent contemporary Danish composer. He has written numerous symphonic works, choral works, chamber music, and solo pieces – including several works commissioned by the Danish Royal Family, and performed at major royal ceremonies and events. Magle also works with fusion of classical music and other genres, including rock, jazz, electronica, and even hip-hop – such as the double gold, and platinum winning album “Elektra” by the group Suspekt which features 10 minutes of symphonic music composed by Frederik Magle. He also compose music for film, television, and theatre. Magle’s orchestral works has been performed by orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Zürcher Kammerorkester, The Riga Philharmonic Orchestra, Imperial Brass Lenzburg, and many Danish orchestras including the Danish National Symphony Orchestra several times. He has also worked closely with leading soloists including the violinist Nikolaj Znaider whom have given the first performance of several of Magle’s violin works. Frederik Magle began composing at the piano at the age of 5, and received formal tuition of piano, basic music theory and solfege from the age of six. He was educated as a student of professor Leif Thybo (composition, music theory), Ib Bindel (organ), and professor Yngve Jan Trede (music theory, at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory), amongst others.
