BAKER HANSEN - THE SOUND OF CHET BAKER IN NORWEGIAN Since 2010, Baker Hansen have performed over 180 concerts in Norway and Sweden with songs from Chet Baker’s catalog: standards from “The Great American Songbook” and jazz classics made famous by his cool trumpet and vocal sound. But Baker Hansen added a twist, transforming and rewriting the lyrics into Norwegian. This adds an extra dimension to the music, presenting the stories and arrangements in a different light. Chet Baker himself also played with several Norwegian musicians and poets, performing and recording with a.o. Jan Erik Vold, John Pål Inderberg and Tarjei Venaas. Baker Hansen have received rave reviews for their live performances in Norway and performed at some of the most well-known jazz festivals and venues in the country, among them Oslo Concert Hall, Molde Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival, Kongsberg Jazz Club and national radio (NRK P2). The band has been joined on stage by some of the most exceptional jazz instrumentalists in Norway, including John Pål Inderberg (baritone sax), who performed with Chet in 1986. In 2014, Baker Hansen issued their first album “Ei som deg” (“One like you”/”There will never be another you”) to great critical acclaim. In 2016 came the follow-up album “Gamle Daga” (“Olden Days”/”I’m Old-Fashioned”). The third full-length album was recorded live in Oslo in February 2019 and issued on the renowned Norwegian jazz label Jazzland in late 2019.
