Def Nettle is the Punk-Funk project by prolific musician Glen Brady. Having toured the world as half of NYC indie/dancers The Glass, as DJ Wool, & with The Cranberries as a member of D.A.R.K. this is the 1st time the world will see this genre free artist as a true frontman. Melding punk, electro & hip-hop with the alchemistic result of producing sounds that could only be delivered by someone who’s lived the experience to tell the tales in Def Nettle’s music. Originally from Dublin by way of New York, Berlin & San Francisco, he has worked at the top of his field in DJing & production for over 2 decades, making music with R.E.M., The Glass (Plant Music), the California State Symphony, Andy Rourke (The Smiths) and the late Dolores O’Riordan. Once known as DJ Wool, Glen started out as an Irish DMC DJ Champion & formed cult band Third Eye Surfers in the 1990s. Landing in New York just two weeks before 9/11, he aligned himself with Plant Music, mixing two of the era’s seminal albums; ‘The Sound of Young New York’ Vol 1 & 2 featuring the likes of The DFA, The RZA & The Rapture, as well as Brady’s band, The Glass on Plant Music, the NY-based record label co-owned by pioneering hip-hop DJ, Stretch Armstrong. Def Nettle is music that pulls no punches and takes no prisoners. It pays homage to punk, hip-hop and electro origins but presents them in progressive way that could only have come from the mind of an artist who never stops pushing boundaries.
