2024: "Thirty years ago one of the worldwide best known italian singer songwriters Domenico Modugno passed away. By working on the music for a new dance theatre play of Koreoproject ruled by dancer and choreographer Giorgia Maddamma, Sacre Radici, I decided to arrange and sing eight of his songs. This work is now an album that will be released december, 13th, 2024, a way for me to celebrate one of my favourite artists ever." Luca Gemma is an italian indie-pop-rock singer and songwriter based in Milan, Italy. Started his career in the 90’s with a indie-rock band, Rosso Maltese. 350 concerts, 2 albums, opening acts for Billy Bragg and Caetano Veloso. He has been writing lots of songs for italian pop singers (Fiorella Mannoia, Malika Ayane), indie singers (Patrizia Laquidara, Bobo Rondelli), movie soundtracks (Sud Side Stori by Roberta Torre, Venice Film Festival 2000) and for national radio, tv and theatre productions. He had then a lasting collaboration with Steve Piccolo from the New York Lounge Lizards. As solo artist he released 6 albums in italian–in 2017 La Felicità di Tutti won an important prize for italian Canzone d'autore–and one in english in 2015. Always touring in Italy (also opening Paolo Nutini, Donavon Frankenreiter and Tinariwen) and France, played also in festivals in England, Luxemburg and Australia. Two more songs were published in pandemic year 2020, Prima di Parlare and Elettro Domestico. And now it's time for Modugno sulla luna!
