Unleashing Modern Nu-Metal Power Roju, the six-piece modern nu-metal force from Finland, redefines heavy music. Their sound bridges the old nu-metal era with a potent mix of metalcore, djent, and modern metal. Originally conceived as an experiment by singer Joni Karjalainen and guitarist Joni Nuortimo, Roju's journey took flight with bassist Juha Janttonen and their debut single, "Calamity." What was meant to be a one-off release spiraled into a global sensation, marking the birth of Roju in 2020. Drummer Topias Muhonen joined the ranks, propelling their second single, "Mind Exit," and the third, "Event Horizon," to a world premiere on Finland's largest heavy music radio, Radio Rock. In 2021, Roju released their EP, "NIL," gaining recognition as a promising newcomer by Kaaoszine, a leading Finnish metal music publication. Guitarist Tero Loponen and DJ Roope "R-Cut" Juola breathed new life into the band's stage presence. In December 2022, Roju bid farewell to their original vocalist, Joni Karjalainen. The dawn of 2023 brought Tuomas "Tsuomasu" as the new lead singer, unleashing a new, vigorous, and heavier sound with songs like "A New Dawn" and "Prophets." With a revitalized lineup, Roju is currently crafting fresh music and igniting live stages with their electrifying presence.
