Lockstoff

Biography

Swiss pop/rock band Lockstoff debuted in 2001 and released a pair of major-label albums for Sony BMG before finding greater success with the independent release Yauu! (2007), which spawned the band's biggest hit to date, "Schneller Höcher Wiiter." Based in Aarau, Switzerland, the band is comprised of Thomas Garcia (vocals), Valentin Grendelmeier (guitar), Martin Garcia (guitar), Al Schmid (bass), Manuel Buchser (keyboards), and Samuel Bär (drums). Both their debut album, Lockstoff (2001), and its follow-up, Nachtschwimmer (2004), were major-label releases, respectively charting at numbers 36 and 49 in the domestic market. Lockstoff returned in 2007 on the independent label Musikvertrieb with Yauu!, which charted for four weeks, peaking at number 29. The album spawned the Top 50 hit "Schneller Höcher Wiiter." ~ Jason Birchmeier
