Rafał Janiak: Violin Inspirations

Biography

Polish pianist, composer and improviser. Doctor of musical arts and currently an assistant professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is a laureate of many national and international piano competitions. He performed in prestigious concert halls in the country and abroad, also with accompaniment of renowned orchestras like Warsaw Philharmonic or Sinfonia Varsovia. Equally successful as a composer, he is a prize winner of national and international composition competitions. For 2018/19 season he was selected to work with London Philharmonic Orchestra during LPO Young Composers mentoring program, which resulted in premiere performance of his orchestral work “Veins” in Southbank Centre in London. His works are performed in country and abroad during concerts and festivals in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Spain, Germany, France, Russia, Italy, Estonia and Hungary. Recordings of his works and several performances as a pianist were released on over 10 CD albums by Ablaze Records (USA), DUX Records, Chronicles of Warsaw Autumn and others. Laureate of several scholarships, including prestigious “Young Poland” Scholarship. Although classical music is the main field of his activity, he is also open to experiments in electronic and alternative genre, combining techniques and inspirations from various fields of art into his own, unique musical language.
