Biography

A native of South Florida, Sandée was known for embracing a Latin-influenced style of dance music in the 1980s and '90s. Sandée (whose name is pronounced Sahn-day) was a member of Expose's original lineup, which dance music producer Lewis Martinee assembled in 1984. Sandée performed on Expose's first two Arista singles "Exposed to Love" and "Point of No Return," both of which were major club hits. After those singles, Expose's original lineup (which also included singer Ale Lorenzo) broke up -- and by the time Expose was ready to record its third single, "Come Go with Me," an entirely new lineup was in place. For Expose's first album Exposure, Martinee chose to re-record "Exposed to Love" and "Point of No Return" with the new lineup -- thus, none of Sandée's vocals can be heard on that album. Sandée went solo after Expose, and in 1988, she enjoyed a club hit with her Fever single "Notice Me." In 1991, the singer recorded her RAL solo album, Only Time Will Tell, which included the single "Love Desire." ~ Alex Henderson
