When young Matty Green heard Jimi Hendrix play Red House for the first time, the highway of his life unfolded in front of him. From that moment he knew exactly what he wanted to do with his life, and so began his musical education. Hendrix led Green to the blues, which took him even further back to people like B.B. King, Albert King, Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy. This early musical schooling took a massive leap while Green was on tour with ex-Stevie Wright and AC/DC drummer Russell Coleman, who turned him onto the likes of Booker T. & the M.G.'s, The Meters, The Band, Sly & The Family Stone and James Brown. These were life-changing experiences for a teenager. From these watershed moments, Green’s feet have remained grounded in the solid foundations of blues and soul music, even as his tastes diversify and he explores different sonic pathways. Teaching guitar has allowed him to delve even deeper into the mechanics of great music – rounding out his 20-odd-year musical education. Fast forward to now and this road of musical discovery has taken him around the world as a go-to guitar player and singer for hire. His understated and soulful guitar playing has recently landed him spots on Missy Higgins' sold-out Australian tour, a 57-date world tour with Simone Felice, and support slots for the likes of Cat Power, The Lumineers, Tony Joe White, Jordie Lane and Ron Sexsmith.<br>
