The Rising Star of Korean Hip-Hop YS Block is a prominent rapper hailing from South Korea. The "YS" in YS Block stands for Yongsan, the district where he resides. His involvement in the promotion music for Yongsan Citizen's Day, organized by the Yongsan District Office, has cemented his connection to his local roots. His debut EP, [YS BLOCK Ver.1], was released in 2021 and features a total of six tracks. YS Block first gained widespread attention by overwhelmingly securing the top spot among contestants in Modern Arts Society’s P2P competition. His musical style is heavily influenced by Southern American music. In 2023, he released his first full-length album, [Dirty South Korean], comprising eight tracks. This album earned him shout-outs from many respected hip-hop artists. His victory at the Baund Open Mic contest earned him the opportunity to perform at the opening stage of RAP HOUSE, an event created by rapper The Quiett to showcase new talents in the hip-hop scene. YS Block has also graced the stage as the opening act for the PAVE DA WAVE concert, supported by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture’s Seoul Live project. His highly anticipated second full-length album is set to drop on June 28, featuring twelve tracks. YS Block primarily creates party-based music with the aim of crafting enjoyable and energetic tunes that appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds.
