To divide and categorize his music The Phlod-Nar (Randolf’s main solo-project) decided to keep his composed works, as in notated sheet music, under his real name. Between the release of albums and collaborations (like The Mun Astronauts) time is spend to compose music for solo instruments and smaller ensembles. An interview was executed in 2011 for a local Dutch radio station (L1) about his composition Variations for Wind Quintet (2010-2011), but not satisfied with the result, it was eventually re-written into the shorter Meditation for Wind Quintet. Randolf (sometimes spelled Randolph) managed to complete and record several solo piano pieces, written between 2005 and 2011, resulting in an album under his real name, titled Works for Piano. Released on Cd with amazing artwork by Kleinjans Ilja in 2012, it has also the complete sheet music available. In total contrast of his previous The Phlod-Nar release In Eternity (2021 Re-Issue), this album focuses on space and silence. Often created after meditation sessions, the music is described as a 'myriad of stories dependent upon the mood and imagination of the listener', by Kelly O'Neill (giving it 5 out of 5 stars). Because of the slow movement of this music, there's a certain element of introspection and even romantic and cinematic moods. In recent years new works have been written, some coming from 20 year old sketches, other from fresh ideas, or arrangements from released (electronic) music. More info: www.thephlodnar.com
