Singer-saxophonist, Lexi Ashlyn, was born and raised in Gardena, California where her passion for music developed in the church choir. At 8 years old, her parents gifted her with a keyboard so she could begin taking classical piano lessons and eventually vocal lessons as well. Joining the marching band during her sophomore year of high school revealed to her a new found love, the alto saxophone. The next year she also joined the jazz band which became one of her favorite ensembles to sing and play saxophone in. Lexi’s natural gift of performance allowed her to transcend several music and theater competitions worldwide. She was also awarded a music scholarship from Mount Saint Mary’s University where she studied saxophone performance. Eventually she transferred to the illustrious HBCU, Texas Southern University, in which she received various music and academic scholarships. Lexi was immensely grateful to have the opportunity to participate in the choir, jazz band and vocal jazz ensembles in college as well. Her desire to perform was fulfilled since she received the opportunity to do so at various festivals and events.
