Deidre & the Dark is the solo project of Brooklyn-based songwriter and singer Deidre Muro. With her distinctive, alluring voice, she seamlessly blends her love for classic songwriting with pop and hybrid production styles, and touches of psychedelia. The latest Deidre & the Dark single “It’s A Thing” serves up her “modern meets classic” recipe with a cratedigger influence on the arrangement, under floating, earworm vocals - a curious revelation, that moment in a friendship when you are about to transition from the friend zone to something more romantic... So far, 2022 has found Deidre landing songs in new feature films like “Mack & Rita” starring Diane Keaton, writing for and producing other artists at her studio YouTooCanWoo, creating new music for film, tv, and other visual projects, and recording new Deidre & the Dark songs for 2023. Prior to her debut album "Variety Hour" - "an album that's so lovingly crafted" (Shindig!) and that “.. delivers the kinds of hooks and euphoria found only in the very best pop records” (WFMU's Sheila B) - Deidre has recorded and toured the world as the founding frontwoman of indie rock band Savoir Adore, hypewoman/backup vocalist for indie dance duo French Horn Rebellion and singer of the electronic trio Violet Sands.
