Gene Paolo Gumagay (Gene GMGY) is a producer, DJ, and visual designer based in Quezon City, Philippines. He has been making electronic music for the past 10 years and has classical training in violin. After several years of experimenting with ambient music, Gene began making trance and hyperpop remixes in 2018. His debut album Heroes’ Lament marks a musical shift, which draws heavily upon his classical training and synthesizes elements from both the fast-paced world of electronic music, and traditional symphonic works. While this debut album and singles from Heroes’ Lament were his first releases as Gene GMGY, he has released dozens of remixes and original songs under other aliases including Sixxxtynice.
