Growing up in a predominately white Portland suburb, Tristtan has struggled to find his footing in a racialized environment. He has grown to find solace in songwriting, producing, rapping. In his bedroom recording studio, surrounded by the comforts and anxieties of “home” Tristtan taps into a wealth of emotion, nostalgia, hope for the future. He pours his soul over his beats, lets it run down the sides, then expertly cleans up around the edges. With a lens of influence spanning across generations, genres, and mediums, T has found his new voice. With this voice, he hopes to provide a unifying element, a rallying cry for brighter days. The release of his latest single titled Puffy signifies a turning of the tides for Tristtan. It is a reckoning with his past. It is a hand out to pull you up when you are low, It is a coming of age, the first breath of adulthood. It is a celebration of progress. It is the first page of the new chapter.
