Growing up in Salzburg, austrian baritone RAFAEL FINGERLOS is a prizewinner in national and international competitions. In 2015, he took part in the Young Singers Project at the SALZBURG FESTIVAL, where he returned in the premiere of Thomas Adès’ The Exterminating Angel the following summer. This was the initial spark for a promising international career, followed by debuts as Papageno at the DRESDEN SEMPEROPER, where he has made regular guest appearances since, as Figaro (Barbiere) for instance or as Harlequin under Christian Thielemann. Further important debuts followed in 2017 and 2018 at the Bregenz Festival (as Moralès in Carmen) and at Teatro Real in Madrid (as Haudy in Die Soldaten). Since his successful viennese debut as Dr.Falke in 2016, Rafael has regularly played roles such as Papageno, Dr. Falke, Figaro (Barbiere), Demetrius, Harlequin and Belcore at VIENNA STATE OPERA. Successful artistic collaboration has linked him with such conductors as Christian Thielemann, Franz Welser-Möst, Evelino Pidò, Adam Fischer or Simone Young and directors like Calixto Bieito, Irina Brook, Vincent Huguet and Barbora Horáková. Concert engagements have so far taken him to such festivals as the Salzburg Mozartwoche, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Lucerne Festival, the Schubertiade, or to Aix-en-Provence. He has also sung in concerts in the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, the Auditorium Lyon, the Salzburg Mozarteum, Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus or Tokyo's Bunka Kaikan.
