Brenton Ross, known professionally as Kurency, is a Jamaican singer-songwriter hailing from the parish of St. Thomas on the east side of the island. Born on March 9, 1995, in the small district of Somerset, Kurency has been enamored with music since the age of 12. He began performing at Christmas concerts and ghetto splash events in his teenage years, and has since dedicated his life to music. Kurency's passion for music was inspired by his older brother, who was also on a music journey, writing and performing his own lyrics for the people. He cites Bob Marley, Garnett Silk, Richie Spice, and Vybz Kartel as some of his musical influences. In 2019, Kurency officially began releasing music and signed with Swagg Records and Bonethugz Records. He has since released seven singles with various producers, and in 2020, he released his debut EP. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was unable to promote the EP as extensively as he had hoped.
