Biography

b. 26 June 1959, London, England. Although she began her professional career as a dancer Fletcher soon followed in her parents’ footsteps by becoming a singer. During her early years she had studied dance, singing and drama at Corona Academy and subsequently worked in the theatre and on television as a dancer, singer and actress. She began concentrating on singing, working in backing groups behind artists such as Grace Kennedy and David Grant. By the mid-90s she had begun to move towards a jazz-orientated style and a musical association with songwriter Rupert Wates proved fruitful. She has toured with the Hot Foot From Harlem show and confirmed her growing reputation with a very good debut album, on which she was backed by Tony Coe, Matt Wates and other artists on Malcolm Creese’s label. Fletcher has an appealingly mature sound and style.
