Accordionist Vincent Lhermet enjoys a distinguished career as a soloist and chamber musician all over the world. A fellow of numerous music foundations and a prize-winner of the most prestigious international competitions (Arrasate Hiria, Gaudeamus interpreters), he is the first accordionist to hold a doctorate degree in music performance in France. He has performed in many festivals, as a soloist with orchestras and in ensembles specializing in new music or in early music ensembles and shares the stage alongside Brian Archinal, Gérard Caussé, Tommaso Lonquich, Michel Portal, and Marianne Muller with whom he founded Les inAttendus ensemble. He regularly collaborates with composers to enrich the accordion repertoire. His discography includes: Rameau, yesterday and today (2015), Creations for a Festival (2017), Poetical humors (2018) and Cantares Mexicanos (2019). The next recording, the Art of Fugue, will be released in July 2021 under Harmonia Mundi. A graduate of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in the class of Matti Rantanen, the Paris Conservatoire and the Paris-Sorbonne University, he is the author of a thesis under the direction of Laurent Cugny and composer Bruno Mantovani. Vincent Lhermet is a professor at the Boulogne-Billancourt and Lille music academies.
