Ken The Misfit was born in Starkville, MS. He was raised in Brooksville, a city about 30 miles south. He discovered his love for music as a child, singing in church and at local school talent shows. 
 He attended college at Alabama A&M University, where he left before finishing, and relocated to Atlanta to pursue a career as a recording artist. 
 Describing his sound as primarily R&B, he cites artists such as Musiq Soulchild, Kim Burrell, Brandy Norwood, Frank Ocean, and Miguel as some of his influences. 
 Baggage Claim, his debut EP, was released on February 14, 2021 through The Mvmnt Music Inc., an independent label based in Atlanta, GA.
