Dan Billu is an Israeli Singer/Songwriter and producer based in Berlin. Dan’s music is a window to his feverish mind, exploring his relationship with agony and its embracement. Emerging from the vibrant Tel-Aviv music scene, Billu released his debut ‘New Haircut’ in early 2012. After relocating to Berlin in 2013, Billu started working on his second album ‘Speech Bubbles’. In his constant search for an innovative sound, he expanded his borders both musically and lyrically. Released in 2018,‘Speech Bubbles’ dealt with much broader issues and combined many musical genres, from electronic to classical influences. After the release Billu was approached by director Ranni Midayn, requesting that the music from both albums be reinterpreted and used as a score & soundtrack for his documentary ‘Marrying an ice cream factory’. The film was produced by the major Israeli TV production company ‘Yes’ for their ‘Yes-docu” channel, and took part in the Israeli docu festival ‘Doc-Aviv’ as well as on several other festivals around the world. Capturing the rich and colorful arrangements from both albums, Billu’s band contains a variety of musical layers, combining classical and jazz influences with electronic elements, to go along with Dan’s intimate songwriting and unique voice. In the last two decades Billu engaged in many different musical projects, playing different instruments on different bands, as well as composing and producing for other artists.
