Hi, I'm Debbie Curtis, my Dad and Joe Cocker taught me to play piano from age 4. My dad was a well known trombone player, music arranger & Big Band Leader. My mum was a session singer. Our house was always full of famous and not so famous musicians. So many influences for me! In my teens I formed bands including Platinum Blonde, my first recording experience was with the late great Alvin Lee of Ten Years After. I've sinced worked with numerous stars and celebs including Hazel Oconnor, Jerome Flynn & Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze. I work solo as Debbie Curtis and under various band name extensions including D-Ranged and The Gangsters of the Groove. I'm best known as leader of The Debbie Curtis Radio Big Band & Swing Orchestra, my Dad's old band which I literally inherited when he died. We've toured and recorded since 2007. My highlight of this band, headlining at The London Palladium. I've also produced music for TV and Film. I've been published in print with a chapter on Big Band and Dance Band Music by The National History Press in a book called 'A reenactors War' I love music and love animals, hence Debbie Curtis' Big Band Aid and Voices for Animals with loads of guest stars and celebs, these tracks raise money for Viva, an international charity that fights against factory farming!
