Biography

Lebanese-Armenian designer, pianist, and composer Vladimir Kurumilian earned his reputation locally and internationally through his integration of contemporary, folk, and electronic music within his work. Vladimir’s early introduction to music, immersion into contemporary art, and experimentation with improvisation allowed him to forge his personalized artistic path.
In 2009, Vladimir organized his first improvisation concert “Quand Le Rythme Devient Obsessionnel” after which he released his first EP What Was Supposed to be a Grendizer Affair. Vladimir later dived headfirst into the local music scene in 2010 collaborating with many artists including Serge Yared, Liliane Chlela, and Adonis. He went on to create the OST for director Jocelyn Saab’s film What’s Going On? alongside his second EP Crepuscule. In 2012, Vladimir worked with light designer Alaa Minawi on their project “A Piano in My Pillow.”
2017 saw Vladimir return with “Ana Bahlam Bik,” his interpretation of Warda’s “Batwanness Bik,” that he performed at Sofar Sounds Beirut and later in Paris and Rome. He then composed the OST of Mazen Khaled’s film Martyr that was debuted at La Biennale di Venezia.
2018 witnessed Vladimir’s breakthrough in the music scene. He composed his critically acclaimed studio album Dopamine, produced by Italian composer and producer Luca Longobardi. Together with Luca, he toured the album in Beirut and Rome after which he released his third EP Brume and his single “Chanson d’Automne.”
