Listen to our podcast SKaffeehaus on Spotify! What began over a decade ago as a promise never to lose the joy of performing, to blow the dust off so-called ‘early’ music and break down the barriers to classical concerts has evolved into what Solomon's Knot stands for today: direct communication, ambitious projects, and bold trademark performances by heart and without conductor. A collective led by artistic director Jonathan Sells, our flexible approach enables us to explore a wide range of repertoire, especially that written before 1800, from the madrigals of Gesualdo to the rediscovery of the anonymous opera L’ospedale, released on DVD in 2019. In exploring new ways to present ancient music to modern ears, eyes, and minds, we work closely with directors, composers, choreographers, and visual artists. Solomon’s Knot finished 2018 with the live recording of Magnificat - Christmas in Leipzig, our festive programme of Bach, Kuhnau, and Schelle, released on Sony Classical in 2019.
