Boo - the artist breaking boundaries, exploring between club and ambient soundscapes and multi-sensory, dreamstate party series and record label Ghetec - is a true diamond in the rough. Growing up in the North East of England, breaking the mold in an area where becoming an artist feels near-impossible, her distinct and emotive productions are infused with determination to reinforce her sonic mark – which in itself, can be poetically described (as with her dynamic DJ sets) as ‘emotional body music’. Think her own chopped vocals, ethereal atmospherics, and the yearning to discover a sense of sentient liberation through self-expression. Perhaps Resident Advisor describes it best, coining her work as a “trance revival, but not in the usual way, folding in influences from '00s breaks and prog house with a very 2023 UK style”. Meanwhile, Ghetec - Boo’s successful party series, recently turned label - has flourished of late, epitomizing a communal need for a euphoric, deeply-considered space. Boo’s forthcoming debut EP ‘Winged Victory’, set for release on AMF Records in June 2024, and a plethora of composition projects, and it feels inevitable that the Teessider’s name is going to be firmly in the psyche of every underground clubgoer.
