Born in Virginia and raised in the trenches of Saint Petersburg, Florida, independent rap artist, Jimbo World, is rapidly making his mark in the rap game. He credits close friends for his moniker—“Jimbo”, a play on the childhood nickname, Jimmy, and “World” was added because he presents views according to his own life, way, and world. Jimbo World’s music, often described as “blood raw”, tells stories of his struggle, his family and his rise from the street life. Raised by his mother and beloved grandmother, Jimbo World experienced life without his father, who was incarcerated in 1993. Encouraged by his older brother at the tender age of nine, he began his rap career by writing his own lyrics and putting them to various beats, a skill he has continued to sharpen. With soundscapes reminiscent of New Orleans’ rapper, Lil Boosie and the 90-2000’s group Hot Boyz, Jimbo World has major influence on fans and other hip hop stars alike.
