Spartz Motlhamme is a young, black South African soul musician; rising from the streets of Alexandra Township with a dream to offer her African sound globally. She released her first EP on SoundCloud called 18|25. She started off with Neo-Soul which is one of her favorite genres, Spartz currently finds herself in none other than indigenous African sound. ‘What influences my sound are the things that I go through, the things that I see, and feel. Everything that is within me and around me. It really could be anything. Anything and everything can go onto paper when writing; as long as it is honest to who I am and it heals the next person’- Spartz She then released her first album called 21 & Black in 2020. The body of work has two genres, Neo-Soul and Indigenous African sound. She is telling the story of a young, black child. All that we go through in our early 20s, intimacy, love, praying that our dreams come true, and spiritual growth. She is now about to release a body of her new project. Her sound has evolved. She represents herself and her guides in the messages of her songs. 21 & Black is a soulful album that expresses the beauty and confusion of being a young person and being a spiritually inclined person at the same time. The album emphasizes on the themes of the 20's , spiritually and pride in being Black. The first part of the album is written from a twenty-one year old's perspective and the second part of the album is written from an African child's perspective.
