Biography

DJ. Producer. Beat Digger. Kung Fu movie aficionado. Hailing from Poughkeepsie NY (“Power Kingdom”, according to the Supreme Alphabet), Paul got his start in the early 80s, DJing hard scrabble parties at local community centers with both feet firmly planted in the burgeoning Hip Hop culture that was just getting ready to explode. Production and remixing was the natural progression and by the 90s, Paul began making a name for himself within the underground Hip Hop scene, quickly accruing “production credits to die for”, including work with Mark Ronson, Beastie Boys, Biz Markie, Masta Ace, Vinnie Paz, Lord Finesse (DITC), AG (DITC), Rasco, Planet Asia, Greyboy, Sharon Jones, Quantic, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Lady Kier (DeeeLite), Nightmares On Wax and countless others. His sound, while rooted in sample based Hip Hop*, has evolved into the kind of open format style that has since come to reflect his DJ sets. Having played the haughtiest of soirées to the dankest of dives everywhere from NY to LA, London to Dublin, Moscow to Paris, Tokyo to Sydney and back again. Favored repertoire: Soul, Jazz, Funk, Disco, Hip Hop, Brazilian, Dub, Dancehall, Soundtracks and other cool stuff. (*For the more adventurous crate diggers out there, you’d be advised to seek out some of Paul’s work outside of the Spotify spectrum. Bandcamp is a good place to start. Recommend: His work with Philly brethren, @Phill Most Chill - as one half of the purist rap duo, the Fabreeze Brothers.)
