Matt Travers, born Nyanzi Matthew David, gained profound interest in music in the early 2010s writing raps for leisure; attributing this to early influences such as Drake, A$AP Rocky, Nasty C and A-Reece. His debut single CORONA graced Soundcloud first and caught the public’s attention earlier in his high school and around this time too, landed him features on C.Kayo's debut project Paper Planes that secured his clout in the underground. Destiny's Child arose from his participation in a music competition in which he finished as a semi-finalist. During his time in it, he was mentored by Mun G with whom he shared a stage right before showcasing an electrifying performance of Destiny's Child and a heart-massaging cover of J.Cole's Power Trip with the A Ka Dope Band. This period also marked the beginning of his professional career. 2022 once again tested Matt's spirit through the MTN Uganda competition in which he finished in the top 5 countrywide that earned him and his fellow champions a song, Bikaaye (MTN Pulse Cypher Winners) with the African legend Benon Mugumbya of Swangz Avenue (label to Azawi, Vinka etc.).To close the year, Matt scored production credits on GrG’s Motion.88 (Radio Edit) which comes as a surprise to those that were clueless about his talent in producing. Matt Travers has been nominated in the Ugandan Hip Hop Awards 2023 under the categories: Rookie of the year and Collaboration of the year with 2 songs appearing in the latter.
