"Lightning in a bottle"...Is the phrase that best describes North Carolina hip hop artist Caktuz. This country strange fruit has been tearing down stages from the US to the UK, pushing his infectious brand of ‘visual music’ onto the world. An intense performer and profound lyricist, Caktuz's music is an authentic original hip hop sound that blends catchy introspective anecdotes over syrupy blues, rock, and trunk rattling soul music into a signature sound that is known as ’Carolina Blues’. Grandson of James Brown protege’ and label mate, Johnny Scotton (Polydor Records), Cak is a ‘Carolina blues man’ by blood working with such artists as; Akon, Kardinal Offishal, Bilal, M.O.P., dead prez, Boot Camp Clik, SA-RA, Sadat X, Rare Essence, DJ Kool, E.U., and many more. Weaving live performance art into musical stage shows caught the attention of legendary blaxploitation filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles. Admiring his potential, Van Peebles added Caktuz and his performance art band, DRX, as a closing act to the last run of his award winning Broadway play “Ain’t Supposed To Die A Natural Death”. Caktuz can be seen or heard in several film, web, & TV roles such as “The Eddie Black Story”, "Monkey Gang: The Mockumentary", VH1’s hip hop drama series ‘The Breaks’, and his own musical film "W A N D E R L U S T".
