Biography

Among the first acts to take UK electronic dance music from the underground into the mainstream, S'Express is the brainchild of producer/DJ Mark Moore. Born and raised in London, Moore made a name for himself in 1983 when he began DJ'ing at the Mud Club. Moore quickly became a DJ favourite in London and the UK, getting a residency at Heaven and guesting at Shoom, helping to popularise Chicago house and Detroit techno in Great Britain. In 1988, Moore made the leap from DJ to recording artist when he formed S'Express. His debut single Theme from S'Express became a major chart success in England, rising to number 1 on the charts. It was also a top seller in Europe and Australia, and became a club favourite in the United States. Moore cut an album in 1989, Original Soundtrack, which had 3 top 10 singles. For the 1990 follow-up, Intercourse, Moore was joined by singer Sonique. The album spawned 3 more hits. S’Express was then put on hold until 2006, when Moore revived the handle for a one-off single, Kitsuné: Stupid Little Girls. Moore has since gone on to a successful career as a producer and remixer, club proprietor, and label chief, and is still in demand as a DJ. In 2016, Moore revived the S'Express name again for an album of remixes, Enjoy This Trip, the classic songs being given new updates by Horse Meat Disco and Chris & Cosey, among others. In December 2022 Moore started making music as S’Express again with Music4TheMind a team-up with Daddy Squad.
