Dallas area hip-hop producer, “Poofy Man,” got his start in 2012 while working for a West Dallas publishing house writing, producing and licensing original music to local artists. After splitting ways with the publisher in February of the same year, he spent roughly five years honing his craft, building relationships and developing a vision for his future in the industry. In early 2017, that opportunity presented itself in a chance encounter with famed South Dallas rapper, 7 Tha Great. The two established a friendship that quickly lead to the duos first joint venture, Phantom City Records, Dallas’ first full-service hip-hop record label. Since 2017, Poofy Man has worked his way into Dallas Hip-Hop’s inner circle picking up accolades along the way. Including, a 2019 After-Party Radio Award nomination for Best New Artist, which came on the heels of his first solo project “Brutal By Design” and an induction into the Recording Academy in early 2018, where he incredibly found himself in a runoff for a faith-based Grammy nomination, falling short by a margin of 2,500 votes. Over the last year, Poofy Man has teamed-up with Phantom City Records co-founder and longtime friend, 7 Tha Great on a number of high profile projects. Including 7’s highly anticipated single “Light It Up,” which hit shelves May, 15th 2021.
