Initially described as the "voice of a generation" by his sixth-grade teacher, Mrs. Ribera, Juan makes music that sounds like Friday nights alone eating Bega Stringers while waiting for Uber Eats deliveries. Alone in his bedroom, he works by combining the pop sensibilities of Max Martin, the DIY recklessness of Sonic Youth, the shameless stupidity of Blink 182, the beautiful absurdity of Kate Bush, and the glittery sounds of whatever strikes him on any given day. After an intense period of _______, he released his 2011-recorded EP "Now Boarding" as Royal Air in 2016, to receive over 200,000 listens. Shedding his old alias, Juan has now adopted a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none approach, doing everything from the music to the artwork from the blissful comfort of his bedroom in his parent's house. Starting January 2017, he undertook the task of writing and releasing a new song every month and continues to do so to this day, making it the longest commitment that he's ever stuck to in his life. One of his newest songs "Expam 1" even had the honour of being featured on Triple J Unearthed's Best New Music playlist, which Juan thinks is "pretty neat". When not making music, he's enjoys taking daily baths, wishing he were Charlie Conway from Mighty Ducks 2, and watching re-runs of Survivor.
