Biography

Germane Marvel, a musician hailing from London and raised in Brockworth, is known for his vibrant presence in London’s live music landscape . Currently living in South London, he fuses genres, drawing inspiration from a wide variety of sounds such as jazz, reggae, dancehall, rap, punk, UK Garage and Grime. Germane is best known for his spontaneous live performances with Steam Down and for being the original host of Orii Jam. A major highlight in Germane’s career was co-writing a beatbox musical adaptation of “Frankenstein: How To Make a Monster”, which earned 5-star reviews from The Stage and The Guardian. The production later became a BBC special. Germane also performed with Steam Down at the Middle Beast Festival in Saudi Arabia, where he was recognized as one of the top rappers at the event. His voice can also be heard on Steam Down’s track "Overcome," which featured in the Apple TV+ series Hijack, starring Idris Elba. Currently, Germane is one of the curators of Steam Down’s weekly event, SDweekly. He’s preparing to release his debut single, "Long Time Ago," on October 22nd, with plans to share more new music in the near future. In his spare time he is the author of writes philosophy on Black Metamodernism, which informs the content of his songs.
