K3:lu, the solo project of guitarist and composer Patrick Hatchett. With his sonic flavours gathered from years of musical experiences, K3:lu's reflective tales range from late-night Afrobeat jams to early Sunday Gospel duties. Inspired by his exhaustive travel and touring with legendary Jamaican artists and intimate jazz gigs in a cozy South London pub, K3:lu's music searches for connection and commonality, blending wild nights dancing, the wild characters amongst us, and the innate wildness of surroundings. Named after his favourite bird seen around his current home in West Cork, Ireland, K3:lu's album features collaborations with UK Bengali musician Idris Rahman, Irish musicians Seán Mac Erlaine on Bass Clarinet, and Justin Grounds on Violin. Aside from K3:lu, Hatchett's career has seen him playing and recording with a broad selection of artists such as Jerry Dammers Spacial AKA Orchestra with UK Jazz artists Shabaka Hutchings, Denys Babtist, and Zoe Rahman, reggae legends Johnny Clarke, Cornell Campbell, and Dennis Alcapone, and West African artists Dele Sosimi, Baba Adecosee Wallace, and Kodjovi Kush. He has also written and recorded with producers and artists such as Mark Rae, The Nextmen, Tim Deluxe, and longtime production partner Rhys ‘Yesking’ Adams. Recent remixes for Soothsayers (Wah Wah 45) and Ghost Chants (Tangential Music)have also enjoyed good radio and dancefloor support, setting the path for new K3:lu material coming soon
