Biography

Electronic music composer, Live performer and 30D label owner 30drop was born and raised in Barcelona where he first fell in love with post-punk, goth and electronic music during the city’s post-Olympia heyday. He adopted the 30drop moniker in reference to the drop-frame time code used for synching 1950s US black and white TV images to sound. He eventually began making music inspired by Russian, British and American retro-futuristic science fiction of the 40s and 50s, as well as classic Detroit and Birmingham techno. Since 2014 he has become a staple of the European electronic music scene, playing venues such as Berghain, Tresor, Moog Club and more. As a producer, 30drop combines elements of industrial, bleep techno and electro with polyrhythmic melodies and evocative soundscapes, creating create music that is both functional and listenable outside of the club context. He was released four full length albums, including Soroban (2020) and Photosynthetic Zone Manifesto (2021) on Jeff Mills’ legendary Axis Records, as well as Tools For The Dimensional Step (2015) on the Detroit Underground imprint and The Time Of Cruel Miracles (2017) on his own 30D Records, where he also collaborated with Gerald Donald (as Arpanet) for the split EP Phases.
