Born in 1983 in Colmar (France), Florent Nisse starts studying double bass at the age of six. After a double science / music curriculum, he gets in 2007 three degrees, one in mechanics, one in classical music, and one in jazz music. The following year he’s accepted in Paris Conservatory (CNSM) in Jazz, in Riccardo Del Fra’s class. He graduates in 2011. After moving to Paris he quickly becomes part of the rising generation of jazz musicians, and has the opportunity to perform both with some of French major artists (Michel Portal, Emile Parisien, Yaron Herman, Sylvain Rifflet, Pierrick Pédron, David Enhco) and international ones (Seamus Blake, Joachim Kühn, Logan Richardson, Gilad Hekselman, Aaron Goldberg, Jeff Ballard). From 2009 on, Florent Nisse has been co-leading the avant-guarde quartet Flash Pig, and he released in 2014 « Aux Mages », his first album as a leader with a quintet featuring the american saxophone player Chris Cheek and the danish guitar player Jakob Bro.
