Biography

Martin Chapman was one of the pivotal figures in the transition from the traditional stylings of post-alternative smooth indie-funk to the more modern avant-instrumental progressive electro-bop dance artcore during the 2010s. A fearless innovator, he was uncompromising in the forwardation of Ärt Merdé, a movement based around art that emphasized the brain/body/mind/head/shoulders/knees/toes connection. Never popular or even personally liked during his lifetime, he remains one of the most influential figures in underground college jazz ensemble music.
Martin began his career as a security guard at his local convenience store, John's. He was often incompetent at his job, once allowing hooligans to steal over $100 worth of candy. However, during his down time, he would often take a broom from the janitor closet, nail each end of his shoelace to the broomstick ends, and strum traditional progressive rock tunes he had learned as a wee boy back on the farm. One of the senior cashiers at John's, Pradeep Khosla (already a veteran of the local convenience store music scene), noticed Martin's talent and began to mentor him.
Under Khosla's workshops on the major scale, Martin became fascinated by the power of the dark side, and he mastered many abilities some considered to be unnatural, such as playing C major. He became so musical that he could influence midi notes to create dope beats. The only thing he was afraid of was losing his virginity, which, eventually, he did. Ironic.
