Biography

King David Koresh is from Wayne County, Michigan. After a juvenile criminal career of auto theft, robbery, and gang-banging, he turned his life around by converting to Islam and attending Eastern Michigan University. From 1998-2001, he released several local mixtapes under the Rated R Recordz imprint. King David also briefly had a recording contract with an Atlanta-based company. In 2005, King David walked away from music to earn a Masters’ degree and two PhDs. After the gangland murders of relatives in Detroit and Chicago, the popularization of drug use in Hip-Hop, and the rise of Drill Rap, he decided to return to recording and releasing music. His latest release is a seven song mixtape “The Souls of Ghetto Folk” (February 2022). King David is an assistant professor of history and director of Black Studies in NC. He is based out of Detroit and Atlanta.
