Biography

Hans Vroomans has been the principal pianist of the Metropole Orkest for many years. With this Grammy Award-winning orchestra he has toured and recorded with the likes of Ivan Lins, John Scofield, Al Jarreau, Kurt Elling, Lalah Hathaway and countless others. While studying classical piano at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and jazz and contemporary music at the Rotterdam Conservatory in the Netherlands, Hans got his first taste of orchestral jazz playing with the orchestras of Rob Madna and John Clayton, as well as with the European Community Jazz Orchestra (EuroJazz). Hans pursued further education in New York, where he attended New York University where he studied jazz piano with Jim McNeely and Don Friedman and arranging with Bob Mintzer. Hans can be heard on countless other CDs as a session musician, having recorded three CDs under his own name: “We Love Music” (Riff, 1992), “Solo piano Jazz at the Pinehill” (Challenge, 2000) and, “L.O.V.E.” (HVM, 2013). 
 In recent years Hans recorded and toured extensively with Dutch singer Trijntje Oosterhuis and he can also be seen and heard with some of Germany’s radio orchestras such as the WDR Big Band in Cologne, the NDR Big Band in Hamburg and the Hessische Rundfunk Big Band in Frankfurt.
 Hans is a member of Who’s the Bossa?, an international group of musicians who share their passion for Brazilian music.
 Hans is on the faculty of the Conservatory of Amsterdam teaching jazz piano. Hans Vroomans is a Steinway Artist
