Biography

Carys May, a Cumbria-born and West Midlands-bred songstress, represents some of the most exciting alt R&B/Soul talent emerging onto the scene. Drawn to poetry and songwriting from an early age, Carys developed a deep love for music and spent her teenage years absorbing 90s R&B and Pop classics. Fuelled by a desire to carve out a place for herself in the UK R&B scene, Carys relocated to a new city and immersed herself in the art of vocal performance. Inspired by the modern alternative approach to R&B, Carys has spent the past two years experimenting with her sound by working with a variety of different producers across a wide range of genres and harnessing her skillset as a versatile songwriter, unhampered by the boundaries of genre, and craving above all to form a deep connection with her listeners. Carys made her debut as a solo artist with her single, 'Ride It Out,' an introspective, chilled-out blend of mellow Hip-Hop production and conscientious lyricism. Followed by her second single, 'Too Little Too Late,' both created in collaboration with musician and producer, Paal Singh. With her debut releases landing radio plays from BBC Introducing and Brum Radio, and accumulating over 15k streams, Carys has no plans of stopping in 2024! Upcoming releases 'Caretaker' and 'Step Left,' will take her sound to a more Contemporary Pop/Alt-R&B-filled space. This young artist displays musicianship and artistry beyond her years and is one to watch on the rise in the UK R&B scene.
