Biography

Younger brother of YNW Melly, YNW BSlime had a head start into the world of rap. He was just 12 when he released his first single, and he shared his brother's keen knack for melodic hooks and dark lyrical visions on tracks like "Slime Dreams" and his 2019 full-length debut Baby Goat. YNW BSlime was born in 2007 in Gifford, Florida. He was growing up as his brother was becoming a rising star, and his earliest experiences with making music happened while he was visiting a recording studio with his brother and was encouraged to get in the vocal booth for a freestyle. The pre-teen's performance was surprisingly strong and he started taking music more seriously from that point on. In 2019, when YNW Melly couldn't show up for a scheduled concert slot due to incarceration, YNW BSlime took his place. Shortly thereafter, his first single "Hot Sauce" was released; it was quickly followed up with subsequent singles like "Baby Slime Freestyle," "Slime Dreams," and a tribute to his locked-up brother, "Free Melly (YNW Melly Tribute)." Many of his tracks were streamed millions of times within weeks of their release, putting BSlime on track to follow in his brother's footsteps as a widely recognized talent. He continued to steadily release new songs and videos, with the tormented love song "Just Want You" arriving in September of 2019. Full-length debut Baby Goat arrived in November, with features from YNW Melly and Lil Tjay. BSlime's style grew increasingly romantic and R&B tinged on Baby Goat, but he continued combining smoother R&B elements with melodic rap flows on 2020 singles like "Freestyle LOL," "Just Wait," the Trippie Redd-assisted "Nightmares," and "Need You." In 2021, now 14 years old, BSlime continued releasing new music at a steady clip, issuing singles like the airy pop track "OTW" and the bouncy trap track "Call Back." ~ Fred Thomas
