Porter Singer was born in Los Angeles, CA, but spent most of her childhood in Southern France. She began writing poems as a form of self-therapy in high school, which, combined with a fascination for overdubbing vocals on her karaoke machine, alchemized into songwriting. After graduating from Brown University with a degree in Electronic Music and Multimedia, and for the first time in her life, finding herself without a “next step”, Porter decided to backpack through the South Pacific. Towards the end of this adventure, a visiting yoga teacher at a Fijian hostel suggested some practices that might reverse her hypothyroidism, which led her to seek out a yoga studio upon her return to the USA. In 2011, Porter began recording “The Music Within” (as SIRGUN KAUR), featuring “Bliss (I Am the Light of My Soul)”, which has been played at spiritual conferences, yoga classes and medicine ceremonies across the globe. Since then, she has recorded 10 more albums, as well as a vast number of singles. Her music has been recognized and shared by a variety of prominent figures, from singer Alicia Keyes to cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn. Currently, she resides in Washington state, where she continues to record and release new music on a regular basis.
