Biography

The psychedelic art pop duo OLOKUN is performance artist Butterfly Williams and music producer Winston Berger. They met in art school during a course on ritual in Berkeley, California. Since then, OLOKUN has performed in Bay Area art galleries such as SOMArts Cultural Center, Root Division and Black & White Projects. OLOKUN has also presented its videos at the international conferences of the Association of Black Psychologists, the American Psychological Association and the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. OLOKUN’s electronic music is an ever-changing, densely layered kaleidoscope of cinematic soundscapes, quirky rhythms, and dramatic lyrics that take the listener on a healing journey through the depths of consciousness. The debut album SURVIVAL KIT, a concept album based on alchemy, is available on iTunes, CD Baby and Spotify. The band is named after Olokun (pronounced oh-LOW-koon), an African deity associated with the depths of the ocean. Olokun represents the ancestors, fertility, intuition and wealth – all things that help a person live a good life.
